‘Rebirthed’ is a conceptual collection that reimagines sportswear through the lens of Florence, Italy’s rich Renaissance heritage. Inspired by the city’s iconic art, architecture, and intricate patterns, this collection merges historical opulence with modern performance wear.
Intricate motifs drawn from grand cathedrals, sculptures, and masterful paintings breathe new life into staple Nike silhouettes, creating a harmonious blend of past and future. Each piece integrates historical elegance with contemporary utility, celebrating the enduring spirit of innovation and craftsmanship. ‘Rebirthed’ is not just a collection, it’s a reawakening of artistry in motion.

THE ASK
Design a moodboard for a destination / Create icons and a color palette / Develop 6 patterns, each with two colorways / Pick an athleisure brand and design an A/W collection for 2022
THE PROCESS
Moodboard
I based my project on Florence, Italy, inspired by a previous light academia trend board I created. While exploring that aesthetic, I was drawn to Florence’s Renaissance art and architecture for their balance of structure, warmth, and romanticism. I curated a mood board featuring landmarks like the Duomo and Santa Maria Novella, along with artworks such as Botticelli’s Primavera and Michelangelo’s David. These visuals informed the project’s color palette, textures, and overall tone, capturing the elegance and historical depth that define Florence’s creative spirit.
Next, I developed a color palette drawn from the most striking hues in the mood board, reflecting Florence’s warmth and artistic richness. Using Adobe Illustrator, I then created a set of custom icons by carefully tracing and refining key objects from the imagery to maintain visual consistency and cohesion.

Patterns
The patterns were created using the icons and color palette I developed in Illustrator. I used the pattern tool to explore composition and rhythm, combining multiple icons to form cohesive and visually balanced designs. For example, I merged individual petals to create complete floral motifs. This stage was the most detailed part of the process, requiring precision and patience, but it ultimately strengthened my understanding of pattern design.
Creating the Collection
To build the final collection, I selected Nike as the featured athleisure brand. The collection includes a vest, two jackets, a long-sleeve shirt, a short-sleeve shirt, cargo pants, sweatpants, and a beanie. In Illustrator, I traced and outlined each piece, then applied the custom patterns I had developed throughout the process. To present the collection, I designed a booklet inspired by a professional line sheet. The collection title, Rebirthed, reflects the idea of reviving and reimagining elements of the past through a modern lens.
