Overview
THE ASK:Design a collection of competitive swimwear prints for both women's and men's styles — four distinct prints, each in six colorways, brought to life in CLO 3D.
Merging the ethereal beauty of bioluminescence with the limitless potential of AI, Luminescence is a competitive swimwear collection that reimagines aquatic visuals in a futuristic, surreal realm. Inspired by the fluid motion of jellyfish and the mystique of the deep sea, each design incorporates flowing, organic shapes and mythical, dreamlike motifs, creating an aesthetic that feels both otherworldly and performance-driven.
Blur effects mimic the mesmerizing glow of underwater creatures, while bioluminescent-inspired accents bring a luminous, high-tech edge to the collection. Luminescence is more than swimwear, it’s an exploration of how AI transforms marine aesthetics into an ethereal, cutting-edge vision of the future.
THE DELIVERABLE: Built a presentation communicating the concept, visual direction, print development, and final collection.

01 / TREND RESEARCH
I used WGSN to research emerging trends and identified Underwater Fantasy as the foundation for the collection. Its fluid forms, aquatic imagery, and ethereal quality established the visual direction for the project.
02 / CONCEPT + PATTERN DEVELOPMENT
I translated the trend direction into original aquatic-inspired motifs and developed them into seamless repeating patterns in Adobe Illustrator. I explored multiple colorways to determine the strongest direction and create cohesion across the collection.
03 / PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
The finalized patterns were applied in CLO 3D to visualize their use on swimwear silhouettes. For the women’s designs, prints were applied across the full bodice for a striking, cohesive statement. For the men’s swimwear, pattern placement was more strategic, complemented by tonal topstitching to introduce subtle detailing and balance the overall look.
